FAQs
How difficult is the Mumbai to Goa ride?
The route is moderately challenging. While it doesn’t involve high-altitude climbs, the coastal terrain includes rolling hills, short steep climbs, and occasional rough patches. Regular cyclists with decent endurance can manage it comfortably with some preparation.
What kind of bicycle is suitable for this expedition?
You’ll need a hybrid or touring bike with gears. A mountain bike with good rolling tires also works well. The route includes paved highways, village roads, and some rough patches, so sturdy wheels and a comfortable saddle are essential.
Can I rent a bicycle from you?
Yes, you can rent a well-maintained geared hybrid or MTB from us for the entire journey. Helmets, lights, and spare tubes are also provided with rentals. Let us know in advance so we can arrange the appropriate size for you.
What’s the total distance and how many days does it take?
The ride covers approximately 533 km over 8 cycling days. Each day’s ride ranges from 30 to 90 km, with rest and ferry crossings built into the itinerary.
Are ferry rides included? Can bicycles go on ferries?
Yes, several ferry crossings are part of the coastal route experience. All ferries accommodate bicycles, and the short breaks offer scenic views of backwaters and estuaries.
What kind of support is available during the ride?
A support vehicle accompanies the group, carrying luggage, water, snacks, and medical supplies. If a rider feels tired or unwell, they can hop into the vehicle and rejoin the ride when ready.
Do I need to be an experienced cyclist?
Not necessarily. As long as you’re reasonably fit and have done some training or weekend rides (30–50 km), you’ll enjoy the journey. The support crew is there to help, and the pace is steady—not a race.
What’s the best time of year for this ride?
The ideal months are October to March—post-monsoon, when the Konkan coast is lush, the weather is cooler, and the skies are clear. Avoid riding during the summer (April–May) and monsoon (June–September).
What should I carry for the ride?
Essentials include a helmet, gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen, water bottle, cycling shorts, and personal medication. A detailed packing list will be shared with registered participants.
Is it safe to ride through the route?
Yes, the coastal route passes through peaceful villages and scenic backroads. Traffic is minimal compared to highways, and our support team ensures safety at all times.
